Product Overview
Capacity: 30 mL per vial.
Preservative: 0.9% benzyl alcohol.
Quality: USP Grade, sterile, and non-pyrogenic, ensuring safety for parenteral administration.
Function: It is a solvent/diluent only and contains no active therapeutic agents itself.
Shelf Life
Unopened vials are good until the expiration date printed on the label, when stored at 20–25°C (68–77°F). Brief excursions to 15–30°C are permitted. Do not freeze. Once the stopper has been punctured, discard the vial after 28 days even if solution remains.
Write the puncture date on the label so you don’t have to guess later. The benzyl alcohol slows bacterial growth between withdrawals, it does not keep the vial sterile indefinitely. Use aseptic technique on every entry: swab the stopper with alcohol and let it dry before inserting a needle.

About Hospira Bacteriostatic Water
Bacteriostatic Water for Injection, USP is a sterile, non-pyrogenic
preparation of water containing 0.9% (9 mg/mL) benzyl alcohol as a
bacteriostatic preservative. The preservative slows bacterial growth between withdrawals, allowing repeated aseptic access to the same vial.
It is supplied by Hospira, Inc., a Pfizer company, in a 30 mL multiple-dose plastic vial with a flip-top seal. The vial is not pressurized. Cleanse the stopper with antiseptic before each entry, and discard the vial 28 days after first puncture regardless of remaining volume. Rx only.
For drug diluent use only. Not for use in neonates.
Hospira Bacteriostatic water is a sterile, non-pyrogenic injection water. The USP is chemically designated as H₂O, with 0.9 percent benzyl alcohol added as a bacteriostatic preservative. The bac water is designed strictly for controlled laboratory workflows. We provide Hospira bac water as a research-grade reference diluent for precise reagent reconstitution and other non-clinical laboratory applications. Each vial offers multiple withdrawals when followed according to established laboratory protocols. This pack contains 100 individual vials for Research Use Only (RUO). It is not intended for human or veterinary use, diagnosis, treatment, or outside of a controlled laboratory setting.

What is Hospira Bacteriostatic Water?
Bacteriostatic Water 30 mL is a sterile, non-pyrogenic preparation of water for injection, USP (H₂O) that contains 0.9% benzyl alcohol. It is used as a bacteriostatic preservative. It is supplied as a research-use-only (RUO) laboratory reference diluent for controlled scientific workflows. The preservative prevents bacterial growth after the vial has been initially accessed. This allows multiple uses when handled according to validated laboratory protocols. The Pack of 100 contains 100 individual vials, each intended exclusively for research, analytical, and educational laboratory applications and not for human or veterinary use.How Does Hospira Bac Water 30mL Work?
Hopira Bac Water 30mL functions as a sterile laboratory diluent used during reagent preparation, analytical testing, and method development. It is particularly used in studies involving peptide solutions. Unlike preservative-free sterile water, it contains 0.9% benzyl alcohol, which helps stop bacterial growth after the first puncture of the vial. This feature helps with repeated sample withdrawals under controlled laboratory conditions. It maintains product integrity when proper aseptic techniques are followed, particularly when using bacteriostatic water for injection. Because it contains no active pharmaceutical ingredient, bacteriostatic water does not produce biological or therapeutic effects. Its role is to provide a standardized aqueous medium for laboratory research requiring a sterile reference solution.Laboratory Handling of Hospira Bacteriostatic Water
Hospira Bacteriostatic Water 30mL should only be handled by qualified laboratory personnel according to the institutional protocols and Good Laboratory Practice standards. Appropriate aseptic techniques should be maintained during every withdrawal to preserve sterility and minimize contamination risks. The product is commonly referenced during:- Reagent reconstitution
- Laboratory method development
- Analytical testing
- Scientific research workflows
- Educational laboratory activities
Precautions When Handling Bacteriostatic Water 30mL
The Hospira Bac Water should only be used in controlled laboratory environments. Consider that:- It is designed for Research Use Only (RUO).
- It is not suitable for human or veterinary use.
- The bac water shouldn't be used for diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of disease.
